The Truth About Hypnobirthing
Let’s be honest, when people hear “hypnobirthing,” they still picture someone with a swinging pendulum or maybe someone clucking like a chicken. But that’s not what we’re talking about at all!
It’s About Being Calm & Prepared
Hypnobirthing is a calm, positive, and natural approach to childbirth. It’s a way to take back your power and feel confident in the lead up to birth and in control of your birth choices for one of the most important moments of your life.
So many of us grow up believing that birth has to be scary and painful. But it doesn’t have to be that way. You can actually look forward to meeting your baby instead of dreading the birth part.
Hypnobirthing is all about eliminating those fears and empowering you and your birth partner with knowledge, tools, support, and preparation. Everything you need to confidently make informed decisions and put yourself firmly in the driver’s seat.
How It Actually Works
When you’ve conditioned your body to be more calm and relaxed, you can release positive hormones that help you open more easily. Your body and baby are designed to work together beautifully, and when we get out of their way, they usually do exactly that.
The tools you’ll learn help you stay in that calm, relaxed state, which can often remove the need for medical intervention. But what I really love about hypnobirthing is that it also gives you the skills to positively deal with whatever curveballs your birth might throw at you.

What’s With The “Hypno” Part?
The “hypno” refers to hypnotherapy. Hypnosis is basically like meditation. You’re totally conscious and awake, just emotionally and physically relaxed. It helps you release fear and tension, replace negative thoughts about birth, and build up a positive mindset instead.
This isn’t some new trend either, it was first introduced by an English obstetrician Grantly Dick-Read in 1930’s. He went on to publish the book ‘Childbirth Without Fear’ in 1942, which became an international bestseller.

Your Birth Partner Can Be An Amazing Support
The Hypnobirthing Australia™ course incorporates practical tools to help you stay calm and focused like, breathing techniques, visualizations, acupressure, movement and light touch massage that your birth partner learns alongside you. This means you’re both on the same page about your approach to birth.
When your partner understands how your body works and what’s happening during labour, they become an incredible advocate and support person. They know what to do, why things are happening and how to help you through each stage. When you have this kind of knowledgeable, confident support, you’re able to surrender more deeply to the birthing process. It’s absolute gold!

How Hypnobirthing Changed Their Birth
“This course should be compulsory for all pregnant women! We completed Kate’s course in our second pregnancy and wished we had done it with our first. My partner and I learnt SO much about how to have a natural, positive birth and even better we were given the tools to make it happen! The course brought us so much closer together as a couple and allowed my partner to feel engaged, connected and have a role at our birth. Kate is a natural childbirth educator and we are very grateful that she was recommended to us. As a result of doing the Hypnobirthing Australia™ course we were able to have our own beautiful, natural, hypno, water birth at home. Our ‘positive’ birth experience will stay with us forever. Thank you Kate!”
